Papal States. Gregory XIII bronze "Gregorian Calendar Adoption" Medal 1582-Dated MS62 Brown NGC, Modesti-786, Strothotte-1582-2. By Lorenzo Fragni Parmense. A very scarce medal commemorating the official switch, as decreed by this Pope, from the Julian to the Gregorian calendar. The reverse featuring a ram's head, signifying Aries, and a dragon biting its own tail is incredibly interesting and "Gothic" feeling.
