German States Jever - Russian Administration. Friederike Auguste

German States
Jever - Russian Administration. Friederike Auguste Sophie Taler 1798 MS61 PCGS, Silberhütte mint, KM110, Dav-2363, Bit-1 (R1), Sev-2492 (R). This enthralling emission comes to us in a stellar state of preservation, with full eagle feathers and original details on the orb and scepter. The gray-limestone and honeydew flan is embellished with areas of terracotta and burnt sienna, especially toward the outer registers.

When Frederick Augustus, Prince of Anhalt-Zerbst, passed away in 1793, the territory of Jever passed to his sole-surviving sibling, Catherine the Great of Russia. In turn, Catherine appointed Frederick Augustus's widow, Friederike Auguste Sophie, as Regent-Governor of Jever. Jever remained under Russian administration until Napoleon's armies occupied the city in 1807.
