Jan Meerhout (Dutch, 1630-1677),River scene with fishing boats and village beyond,Oil on panel,Signed and dated 1664 lower left,29cm x 39cm,Gilt framed CONDITION REPORT:The panel shows a full length horizontal split approximately 4.5cm from the top edge (approximately 2.5cm from the top edge of the visible image). There is a scuff line running in an arc for approximately 16cm across the centre of the left side of the picture. The top left and right corners of the picture show further wear. The panel appears to have moved in the frame revealing frame wear down the right hand side. Examination under UV confirms the above and reveals evidence of possible re-touching in some areas. The frame shows overpainting to the gilt finish including some overpainted losses to the moulded details.
