Republic. Shanxi Jingbao ("Mirror") Sycee of 50 Taels ND (c. 1912-1948) Certified AU55 by Gong Bo Grading, cf. Cribb-Class I.A (for type), cf. Sycee Online Ss50/06 (same). 106.9x70.4mm. 1831.1gm. Stamped in three columns, reading "Min Guo Nien Heng Yue" (Republic Year Month) right, "Tai Gu Xian" (Taigu County) upper left, "Ju Tai Heng" (silver furnace name) lower left. Struck with three additional stamps, only two of which are legible, reading "Zhou Xing Jing Bao" (Zhou Xing Mirror Sycee) and "Heng" (silver furnace). A highly attractive and substantial representative, one of a handful of these 50 Taels issues within this auction and one seen relatively infrequently. Fully struck up and displaying only minimal casting bubbles, the piece will surely be a hotly contested item when crossing the auction block. Accompanied by a Gong Bo presentation box.
