Morgan Dollars 1894-S $1 MS66 PCGS. Ex: D.L. Hansen

Morgan Dollars
1894-S $1 MS66 PCGS. Ex: D.L. Hansen Collection. The 1894-S comes from a moderate mintage of 1.26 million coins, although it is nonetheless a semikey date in the Morgan dollar series, even in circulated grades. The issue is notably scarce in Gem condition and rare finer. Part of that scarcity is due to the fact that government stores of this issue in bag quantity were exhausted before the Treasury releases of the 1960s, with little numismatic interest in preserved high-grade pieces.
The present coin is boldly struck and displays radiant cartwheel luster. Brilliant interiors cede to russet-amber border toning, and overall eye appeal is outstanding. Liberty's cheek is especially clean. Just a few faint grazes are seen in the adjacent field. Population: 18 in 66 (5 in 66+), 2 finer (7/23). From The Stuard Collection of Morgan Dollars.
