The painting by Oskar Herrfurth was rendered in 1909 in Weimar. It depicts a gnome with white hair and a long beard. He is rested on a cane and carries a strawberry in his hand. Herrfurth studied at the art academy in Weimar. Later he worked in Hamburg as an illustrator for fairy tales. The painting is signed and dated lower left in the image ‘O. Herfurth. Weimar 1909‘. It is in good condition showing only minimal traces of age. There are remnants of glue strip verso as well as two numberings ‘28/10/160‘ and ‘12.65‘. The sheet size is 51.5 x 33 cm.
